Another Hospital Visit

Yesterday morning I noticed a teeny-tiny amount of blood on two occasions. Just to be safe I called my doctor's office. I was expecting them to tell me to come in to see the doctor, but no, I was advised to go to the hospital immediately to be seen in L&D.

Long story short, we went to the hospital where baby and I were hooked up to monitors. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was having contractions every 8-9 minutes!!!! What? OHHH.....so that wasn't gas that I was feeling... hahaha!!!

While the baby is strong at 36 weeks, the longer he can "cook" in my belly, the better. So I was given two shots of Terbutaline to help stop the contractions. In addition, I was prescribed an oral medication to take 4 times a day to help slow the contractions as well. They continued to monitor me, I had an ultrasound, OB examined me and determined it would be best if I stayed overnight for observation.

This morning Dr. S came to see me, we talked, and thankfully he said it would be okay for me to go home. My cervix is still closed and holding at 3cm in length. I've been given instructions to continue to take it easy, monitor fetal movement regularly, and monitor any contractions.

I'm home now and just took the most refreshing shower of my life :) I have my weekly OB appointment on Wednesday so we'll see how things go. In the event that my contractions get stronger - Dr. S will cut the cerclage so I can deliver RJ. We're hoping the little guy can stay in there at least a week longer, so hang in there, my son!!!

3cm is awesome. You are doing great! Now that you've been to L&D, you will be a pro on birth day. ;)

Keep up the great job you are doing. Monitor the kicks, and remember that you should call your doctor for any reason. At this point, every mom does, so you aren't the first and won't be the last to have concerns. Since being conservative is best in this situation, I hope knowing that fact will ease your worry. (easier said than done, of course).

Sending you love,
Cheryl
